Wrist Arthroscopy

Abstract

Degenerative arthritis of the first carpometacarpal (CMC) joint is a common pathology affecting the daily activities of the patients. The patients whose pain symptoms were not improved by conservative treatment were indicated for surgical treatment. Many different surgical procedures such as trapeziectomy, ligament reconstruction, interposition arthroplasty, suspensionplast, osteochondral allograft application, carpometacarpal prosthesis, arthrodesis, and arthroscopic treatment are used for years. However, in the studies there is no consensus about the superiority of one technique to another. In recent years, as a result of technological and technical developments, the use of arthroscopy in the diagnosis and treatment of first CMC joinr arthritis is increasing.
